Land Resource Information System (LRIS) for Mysore District

LRIS project was initiated as a collaborative programme between Dept. of Information Technology, GOI, Survey of India (SOI) and Govt. of Karnataka. The Land Resources Information System (LRIS) is built using the spatial Cadastral maps, thematic information (present land use/land cover, hydro-geomorphology, soil, groundwater prospects) derived from Quick Bird satellite data on 1:4,000 scale and other non-spatial collateral data pertaining to Census, Civic amenities etc.
The data base created consists of both spatial and non-spatial data in a single digital platform which can be easily retrieved and updated. It will cater to the needs of planners and decision-makers in their day-to-day activities. The taluk wise project reports have been completed and submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, Mysore District. The final project report was released during the State Level Seminar on “Karnataka Geospatial Database” held at Bangalore on December 28, 2010.
