On the request of Karnataka Forest Department, the KSRSAC has taken up a work to delineate notified forests falling in 10893 villages/village maps.
LRIS project was initiated as a collaborative programme between Dept. of Information Technology, GOI, Survey of India (SOI) and Govt. of Karnataka. The Land Resources Information System (LRIS) is built using the spatial Cadastral maps, thematic information (present land use/land cover, hydro-geomorphology, soil, groundwater prospects) derived from Quick Bird satellite data on 1:4,000 scale and other non-spatial collateral data pertaining to Census, Civic amenities etc.
Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board has developed 160 industrial areas in 29 Districts in the State and acquired land for nearly 473 Single Unit Complexes covering an extent of 73,288 acres ensuring balanced industrial development in all regions with well thought of infrastructures and unique features. KIADB proposed to have a GIS based information system for all its properties.
The New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) sponsored a project on GIS Database Creation and Updating for NMPT; the boundary of NMPT estate was delineated using total station survey and cadastral apps. And existing base map of NMPT area was updated.
SIS-DP aims at generating GIS layers on 1:10000 scale on natural resources (land use/land cover, settlements, ground water prospects, water resources, road network, public utilities, communication network, health care etc.) and disseminating them to the people at grass roots level using web enabled information system, digital CD/DVD ROMs etc. It also aims at developing site-specific interactive Decision Support System (DSS) and analytical tools for local level planning.
Creation of Geo-spatial database for Tanks of Karnataka
Summary Of Work
The tanks(lakes and ponds) of Karanataka were delineated using Resourcesat @ LISS IV images and Survey of India topographic maps as a part of generation of Tank Infromation System.This geospatial database also contains ownership(name of dept)and area information for all the tanks.
To generate thematic data such as urban Landuse, Geology, Soil, Surface water body, drainage, canal, transportation network on 1: 10000 scale for perspective development of the towns in Goa in phases.1st phase – 5 towns namely Mapusa, Cuncolim, Curnchorem Cacore, Marmagoa and Margoa.
The project was initiated with the funding support from Survey Settlement and Land Records (SSLR), Revenue Department, GoK for creating digital data base of village cadastral maps.
The major objective is to computerize and generation of all village cadastral maps of the State of Karnataka.
National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), ISRO, Govt. of India, in collaboration with partner institutions is preparing ground water quality maps using remote sensing and GIS technology under Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission (RGNDWM) project. The project is being sponsored by the Department of Drinking Water Supply (DDWS), Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD). The KSRSAC has been entrusted with the work pertaining to the State of Karnataka
